Pony Club

As an official Pony Club centre, we offer a wide range of activities ranging from quizzes, show days and competition days to achievement badges, and best of all, you do not need to own a pony to join!
What Is The Pony Club?
The Pony Club is an international youth organisation for those interested in ponies and riding. It was founded in England in 1929 and is now represented in 16 countries and has a membership exceeding 100,000. The Pony Club was granted independent charitable status on 1st January 1997. It is the largest association of riders in the world. A majority of the most successful riders in all disciplines of British equestrian competition have been Members of the Pony Club.
The objectives are:
> To encourage young people to ride and to learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with horses and riding.
> To provide instruction in riding and horsemanship and to in-still in Members the proper care of their animals.
> To promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty, thereby cultivating strength of character and self-discipline.

Centre Membership runs alongside Branch Membership around the country. There are currently over 400 Centres with more being enrolled across the United Kingdom. Potential Members join at their local Riding Centre. The Pony Club activities at Mill House Riding Centre are organised and administered by Aniela Scarpa our Pony Club Co-ordinator.
New Pony Club Centre Membership is open to anyone under 21 years of age who does not own a pony. Members pay an annual subscription and receive information at a linked Riding Centre; this subscription constitutes Membership of the Club and includes Third Party Insurance.
The affairs of the Pony Club are managed by The Pony Club Council with Headquarters at Stoneleigh Park, Kenilworth, Warwickshire, CV8 2RW.
Centre Membership allows the opportunity for a Member to learn more about riding and horse and pony care. Members are encouraged to take an interest in their work and improve their knowledge by working towards gaining Achievement Badges (there are 29 covering a range of subjects) and Pony Club Tests up to 'B' Standard, which would include passing the Riding & Road Safety Test.
There is now a set of Progressive Test available to Centre Members in Horsemanship and Riding and Road Safety. These allow Members to take Tests in modules throughout the different levels.
Centre Members may compete against one another in the many different competitions that we offer here at Mill House including Dressage, Show Jumping, Games, Dressage to Music, Horse & Pony Care and the National Quiz.
If you would like any more information or are interested in joining please speak to a member of staff.
